Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
